The National Bank of Georgia announces a competition for the selection of the first collector banknote design
In 2025, Georgia will mark the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Lari, its national currency. The Georgian National Currency was first put in circulation on 25th of September of 1995, and, was declared the only legal tender across Georgia from the 2nd of October of the same year.
Introduction of the Georgian Lari was an important event in the history of our country, serving as a milestone in the formation of a politically and economically independent state governed by the principles of the market economy.
Given the importance of this event, the National Bank of Georgia is pleased to start preparing for producing the first collector banknote in denomination of 50 lari in the history of Georgia dedicated to the introduction of the national currency. The competition is now announced to select of design sketches.
