The National Bank of Georgia and the Financial Supervisory Agency of Georgia Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes the framework of cooperation between the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and the Financial Supervisory Agency of Georgia (FSA). 

This document identifies the areas of individual responsibilities for each institution as well as the areas of shared responsibility.

It also describes the major forms and principles of cooperation between the two institutions, (added) which are the following:

  • The institutions will work to ensure the stability and soundness of the financial system.
  • The institutions will ensure effective data and information sharing between NBG and FSA on a confidential basis.
  • The institutions will minimize the duplication of efforts and the regulatory burden imposed on regulated entities consistent with best international practices for the respective institutions.

Each institution is responsible for ensuring that Parliament, market participants and the public understand their individual functions and responsibilities.
