The National Bank invites parties interested in preparation of the 2026-2028 Supervisory Strategy and publishes questionnaire

26 December, 2025

In line with the high standard of transparency, the National bank of Georgia has been publishing Supervisory Strategy documents since 2020. The practice of previous years demonstrates, that the Supervisory Strategy ensures access to information regarding the National Bank's supervisory priorities and planned activities for the sector, investors, international financial institutions, rating agencies, the public, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, it enhances predictability and creates an even more transparent working environment.

The National Bank continues its established practice and is currently working on a new strategy document, within which the National Bank's supervisory priorities and corresponding activities for 2026-2028 will be determined.

Similar to the supervisory strategies of previous years, the new document will be proactive, future-oriented, and tailored to market needs. In defining supervisory priorities, the National Bank takes into account:

  • Primary directions for the supervision and regulation of financial sector activities;
  • Recommendations received from international partners and commitments undertaken;
  • Analysis of international best practices and trends;
  • Opinions and recommendations of the private sector;
  • Needs identified under the supervisory mandate, underlying risks and challenges.

It is of particular importance for the National Bank the strategy document to be focused on a shared vision, inclusive and compiled on the basis of consultations. In order for the strategy to reflect the vision, perspectives, and recommendations of financial sector representatives, as well as consumers, investors, and other stakeholders - the National Bank publishes corresponding questionnaire. Through the positions expressed within the questionnaire, each involved party/person will make a significant contribution to the formulation of supervisory priorities and the action plan, which will help the National Bank to precisely define practical and real-need-based approaches in the strategy document.

With regard to the 2026–2028 Supervisory Strategy, opinions can be submitted through the questionnaire no later than January 23, 2026. In case of any additional questions, please contact us at the e-mail address: Supervisorystrategy@nbg.gov.ge.
