The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will Pay a Visit to Georgia by the Invitation of Roman Gotsiridze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Sureyya Serdengecti will pay a business visit to Georgia on February 16-18 by the invitation of the President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze. The main purpose of the visit is to extend the cooperation in the sphere of banking & finance with the Republic of Turkey, the main trade partner of Georgia.
Within the framework of this visit a face-to-face meeting of the Heads of two central banks is planned. Later, the briefing for the representatives of mass media will be arranged. On February 17, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Sureyya Serdengecti will make a presentation on “Monetary Developments in Turkey and the Role of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey in the Process” at the “Sheraton Metechi Palace hotel”. The members of the NBG Council and the Parliament of Georgia will attended the presentation. It is also planned to hold the meetings with the representatives of the International financial organizations functioning in Georgia and the representatives of commercial banks.
The President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) will visit “Ziraatbank” Tbilisi office (Turkish commercial bank). Later, together with his Georgian colleagues he will meet with the representatives of Turkish companies functioning in Georgia.
Within this visit the Governor of the CBRT Mr. Sureyya Serdengecti will conduct meetings at the Parliament of Georgia and the State office.
The Governor Sureyya Serdengecti is considered to be the author of successful banking reforms in his home country. He was born in Istanbul in 1952. Mr. Sureyya Serdengecti joined the Central Bank of Turkey in 1980 and has been occupying the post of the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey since 2001. During his administration a successful money reform has been carried out in the Republic of Turkey.
