The Delegation From Central Bank Of Zambia Visited National Bank Of Georgia

On November 21, the delegation from the Central Bank of Zambia visited the National Bank of Georgia. After Ethiopia, Botswana and Malawi, Zambia is the fourth state of Africa visiting the NBG. The visit is based on the recommendation of the American Company “MONTRAN”. The purpose of the visit is familiarization with the reforms and innovative systems introduced in the National Bank of Georgia.
A subject of a particular interest is the firsthand familiarization with the high-tech payment systems, which allow financial institutions to perform transfers quickly and safely. Georgian colleagues will provide the guests with the information on the implementation of the Georgian Payment and Securities Settlement (GPSS) System. They will learn about the advantages of Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). Also they will visit the Cash Center of the National Bank of Georgia, which is the only one in the CIS, equipped with the modern safety technologies in compliance with the international standards.
“Today, another meeting with the delegation of the Central bank of Zambia was held. The purpose of the delegation’s visit is to familiarize with the reforms implemented in the National Bank of Georgia. This is the ninth central bank visiting us for this purpose and I think this experience will be useful for them. The meetings regarding the development of the payment systems have already been held, today we are discussing their model, how they are going to develop payment systems in their country and we will also discuss the cash operations. We intend to assist them in carrying out of the projects that have already been successfully implemented in the National Bank of Georgia” – stated the Executive Director of the NBG, Mr. Giorgi Melashvili.
“The main goal of our visit in Georgia is learning about the project we are going to launch in Zambia. We are implementing new RTGS system and “Montran” is providing assistance to us. This system has already introduced by the National Bank of Georgia and we are grateful to the management of the NBG for giving the opportunity to familiarize with new systems and we hope that our relationship will go beyond the RTGS” - said the representative of the Payment Systems Department of the Central Bank of Zambia, Mr. Lazaros Kamang.
During the visit, the guests will meet the representatives of the National Bank of Georgia and the Georgian commercial banks, the meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Finance is planned as well.
The Delegations from Afghanistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Botswana, Malawi, Suriname and Ethiopia have visited the National Bank of Georgia for the purpose of sharing the experience. Most of the visits were based on the recommendation of the World Bank.
