Statement of the National Bank of Georgia
Today, the Board of the National Bank of Georgia considered the recusal of Board member Nana Keinishvili from participating in the Board’s activities.
Pending the completion of the investigation concerning Nana Keinishvili by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia and the establishment of the facts, and in view of the high reputational standards expected of the National Bank’s Board, the Board decided that Nana Keinishvili shall not participate in the process of deliberating on and making decisions by the Board.
The decision was adopted unanimously. In reaching this decision, the Board was guided by the relevant provisions of the Organic Law of Georgia on the National Bank of Georgia and the General Administrative Code of Georgia, which provide for the recusal of an interested person from proceedings before a collegial administrative body. Specifically, an official who has a personal interest in a matter, or where other circumstances exist that may influence their decision, may not participate in administrative proceedings.
