Roman Gotsiridze Presents Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili the Number One Georgian 200 lari Banknote

In relation to putting into circulation of the new 200 lari banknote, President of Georgia – Mikhail Saakashvili received Roman Gotsiridze, governor of the National Bank of Georgia. He was accompanied by Dr. Walter Schlebusch, Executive Director of the German company Giesecke & Devrient, Mr. Dietmar Reichel, Regional Director of the same company. The 200 lari banknote was produced in Germany and it is one of the most secured banknotes in the world. Several exclusive technological novelties of the security features are used on the banknote, making it a distinguished banknote in the world today.   Governor Gotsiridze presented President Saakashvili the number one 200 lari banknote and said that this new banknote is dedicated to freedom and unification of Georgia. “Its introduction is conditioned by the economic growth of Georgia, stability of the exchange rate of the national currency and increasing foreign investments in Georgia”, Governor Gotsiridze said.   President Saakashvili thanked the National Bank and said that the lari is strong and stable, the increase of confidence in the national currency drives towards the widening of the area of the circulation of lari, reduction of dollarization and increase of the demand for lari for purposes of both circulation and payment, and accumulation.   President Saakashvili welcomed the portrait of Kaikhosro (Kakutsa) Cholokashvili, the Georgian national hero, and the view of Sokhumi featured on the banknote, and said that this theme expresses the struggle for its territorial integrity.
