On July 23, the presentation of the first edition of Scientific-Analytical Journal of the National Bank of Georgia “Economics and Banking” was held at the Tbilisi State University. Mr. Giorgi Kadagidze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia opened the presentation.

"First of all I would like to mention that the success of the country is based upon the education. We have especially a lot of work to do in direction of improvement of the economic education; this is one of our major priorities. This journal is another step taken towards this direction. Our goal is to make this journal not a closed-type professional edition but to make the open platform. Every interested person, a student, a graduate student, a doctoral student, a banker or an economist will have an opportunity to express an opinion upon one or another economic issue. There will be discussed all topics of interest for our society in this publication. Hence, I wish to congratulate everybody on this day, I think that the first steps of this Journal will be very successful" – Mr. Kadagidze, Governor of the NBG stated.

Mr. Nodar Khaduri, the Minister of Finance of Georgia attended today’s presentation. “It is very important initiation, it is another platform given to the Georgian economists for sharing their thinking; the ministry of finance will gladly familiarize with their opinions. We have cleared with the NBG management that we also share our opinions with broad society and especially with the economic circles through this Journal” – Mr. Khaduri, the Finance Minister stated.

The representatives of the banking and finance sector, economic experts, authorities of higher education institutions, representatives of the international organizations and media attended today’s meeting.

The primary objective of the Journal “Economics and Banking” is to bring the knowledge and information accumulated inside the institution to the wide audience. Besides, it is the best opportunity for the economists and financiers to express their opinions on the current economic processes taking place in the country and abroad. Journal will foster the young researchers and scientists who work on the particular economic or finance topics. Mr. Giorgi Bakradze is a chief editor of Journal.
