Papuna Lezhava and Vakhtang Burkiashvili Meet with the Representatives of the French Business Mission

Papuna Lezhava, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Vakhtang Burkiashvili, the NBG Executive Director, Alexander Dzneladze, President of the Georgian Bankers’ Association, together with the Association’s Executive Director Giorgi Bagrationi, held a business meeting with Laurent Germain, the Chairman of the France-Georgia Business Council, representatives of MEDEF International and the France-Georgia Business Council.

 

Vice Governor Papuna Lezhava spoke in detail about the banking sector, the underlying challenges and the NBG reforms to contribute to the smooth functioning and stability of the sector. Vakhtang Burkiashvili, the NBG Executive Director, provided a detailed review of how the cash circulation is regulated and the GEL banknotes and coins are supplied to the national economy on an ongoing basis, highlighting the high-tech programs of the Cash Center, which allow a single system to control the movement of cash across the country. Representatives of Rothchild, BNP Paribas, Oberthur Cash Protection, MND, MONTAZ, SYSTRA and ONEPOINT discussed commerce opportunities and prospects for future cooperation with the Georgian party.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the members of the delegation will hold meetings with the representatives of the executive authority of Georgia. An important partner of the French government, MEDEF International is a private organization with a 30-year history, uniting 800 thousand French enterprises.
