Otar Gorgodze Discusses the Importance of Risk Management Framework at the Central Banking International Conference

Otar Gorgodze, Head of the Financial and Supervisory Technologies Development Department of the National Bank of Georgia, took part in the autumn series of meetings organized by Central Banking, a reputable international publication.

 

The participants of the online event were eager to share international experiences and engage in detailed discussion on currency and payment systems, financial technologies, reserve management, climate risks and inclusion.

 

Otar Gorgodze spoke about the importance of developing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) risk management framework. He shared the experience of the National Bank of Georgia in this area and focused on the specifications of the risk management framework.

 

“As we are recovering from the economic consequences of Covid-19 and slowly returning to normal, we have to rethink and analyze how we could increase the resilience and health of our economies further. This crisis has taught us several important things, and one of them is the importance of digital technologies. Against this backdrop, there is a need for digital infrastructure to support not only long-term economic growth but to help mitigate adverse economic shocks,” Otar Gorgodze said.

 

The event was attended by representatives of the central banks, executive authorities, international organizations and the banking sector of the advanced countries.
