NBG Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava participates in a meeting organized by Danmarks Nationalbank
Within the framework of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held in the United States, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Ekaterine Galdava took part in a meeting organized by Danmarks Nationalbank.
The discussion focused on digitalization and emerging forms of payments. Representatives of central banks shared their countries’ experiences, exchanged views on the types of new payment instruments introduced in different jurisdictions, and discussed the potential impact of these innovations on monetary policy instruments.
“Digitalization is the future. To enhance the efficiency of the payment system, the NBG is making every effort to support the development of financial technologies in the country. As the role of innovation and fintech in the financial sector continues to grow rapidly, the sector’s future is almost unimaginable without digital technologies,” said Ekaterine Galdava.
The meeting also addressed the role of women in central bank governance. As noted by the NBG Vice Governor, the National Bank of Georgia consistently supports the participation of women in economic activities, and within the institution itself, all members of senior management and the majority of the Board are women.
The event brought together female leaders from the central banks of 25 countries, including the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, the European Central Bank, the Bundesbank, as well as the central banks of Denmark, France, Italy, Finland, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Ireland, Moldova, and others.
