NBG Governor Koba Gvenetadze Meets with Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department

Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, held a working meeting with Jihad Azour, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund. The discussion at the meeting covered the economic stance of the country and challenges in the region.

 

Governor Gvenetadze provided Jihad Azur with detailed information on the NBG reforms and the current macroeconomic trends. He also spoke at length about the actions implemented by the NBG in response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The discussion also included the IMF’s Stand-By Arrangement approved by the IMF Executive Board and the economic reforms that the said program entails.

 

During his work visit, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department will hold meetings with representatives of the Georgian Government, Diplomatic Corps, International Financial Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and the civil sector. Jihad Azour and Koba Gvenetadze will also meet with the students to talk about the challenges of Georgia and the region, the effects of the war in Ukraine and the global economy.
