NBG Board Approves Candidacies of Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava as NBG Vice-Governors
By the decision of the Board of the National Bank of Georgia, Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava will be taking office as NBG Vice-Governors.
In 2021, the Parliament of Georgia supported the nominations of Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava as members of the Board of the National Bank of Georgia for a seven-year term.
Before joining the Board of the National Bank of Georgia, Ekaterine Mikabadze was the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, leading the areas of economic analysis and capital market development. She was in charge of macroeconomic analysis and fiscal policy planning at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. Prior to that, Ekaterine Mikabadze spent years working on various positions in the Macroeconomics and Statistics Department of the National Bank of Georgia. She also worked in the State Department of Statistics.
Ekaterine Galdava has many years of experience with the National Bank of Georgia. She spent years working in the Macroeconomic Policy and Monetary Operations Department of the National Bank of Georgia, was an adviser to the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia on economic issues, and Vice-Governor of the NBG. Ekaterine Galdava also worked for the International Monetary Fund Georgia office. Before joining the Board of the National Bank of Georgia, Ekaterine Galdava held high positions in various public and private organizations.
Pursuant to the Organic Law of Georgia on the National Bank of Georgia, Vice-Governors of the National Bank of Georgia are appointed by the NBG Board upon the nomination of the NBG Governor. The members of the Board are elected by the Parliament for a term of seven years upon the nomination of the President of Georgia. Currently, the Board of the National Bank of Georgia consists of 6 members.
