
NBG and Financial Services Regulator of Kazakhstan Hold Workshop
On February 22, 2023, the National Bank of Georgia and the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) held a joint workshop for the participants of the Georgian securities market. The purpose of the meeting was to share the insights with the participants of the Georgian securities market about the principles of AFSA's work in the markets of Kazakhstan and Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). It is important to note that Kazakhstan's securities market currently holds a top position in Central Asia and the Caucasus region.
The AFSA representatives presented on key topics related to the Kazakhstan and AIFC financial market, including the general macro environment, financial market structure and regulatory framework.
The importance of regional integration in capital market development was emphasized at the meeting. The parties also discussed the prospects of future cooperation.
The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) is the independent regulator of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), responsible for the authorization, registration, recognition and supervision of financial firms and market institutions in the AIFC. Over 1,800 firms from 72 countries are registered in the AIFC. These firms provide banking, insurance, investment, professional and other services. The range of financial services offered at the AIFC is comparable to the list of services available in long-established financial centers of the world.
