National Bank President Meets the World Bank Delegation

Roman Gotsiridze, President of the National Bank of Georgia, met with the World Bank delegation. The delegation headed by Theodore Greenberg, World Bank’s Financial Markets Integrity Department, is visiting Georgia at the invitation of the Financial Monitoring Service of Georgia. Tomorrow, May 18, a Conference “Money Laundering Issues – Reinsurance” will be held in the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. The conference will unite anti-money laundering and reinsurance issues. Among other speakers, Ms. Ekaterine Galdava, vice-president of the National Bank of Georgia, and Mr. Nicholas Geguchadze, head of the Financial Monitoring Service of Georgia, will make presentations at the conference. The head of the World Bank delegation have high assessment to the work of the Financial Monitoring Service and stated the importance of its functioning for Georgia and the countries of the region. The parties stressed the importance of coordination between the Central Bank, commercial banks, law enforcement agencies and the Financial Monitoring Service. Theodore Greenberg thanked the National Bank President for the considerable support the Bank is providing to the Financial Monitoring Service.
