National Bank of Netherlands Renders Technical Assistance to Georgia

The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze met the President of the National Bank of Netherlands Nout Wellink during his business trip to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Special attention was focused on establishment of relations between the National Banks of Georgia and Netherlands. During the talk the issue about the possible assistance of the Netherlands party in cash and foreign currency reserves management of the National Bank of Georgia was also dealt with.   Restructuring and optimization process of regional cash centers has been implementing in Netherlands for 10 years. At the meeting with the Management of the National Bank of the country the President of the National Bank of Georgia showed interest in this issue and said that the similar process is also in progress in Georgia. According to him, it is vitally important for Georgia to share the Netherlands’s experience.   The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze invited his Dutch colleague to Georgia for return visit.   The visit program envisaged a meeting with the banknote producing company in Johan Enschede Office. This company has already printed 1, 2 and 5 lari banknotes. A meeting in Netherlands Governmental Agency – Netherlands Development Financial Company is scheduled as well. The issue of financial-technical and methodological assistance rendered by the Netherlands party for organization of a new cash center of the National Bank of Georgia in Tbilisi suburbs will be considered during the visit. The President of the National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze intends to consider the issue on allocating a possible grant for implementation of the project at the meeting with the Management of Netherlands Development Financial Company.   The National Bank of Georgia plans to install cash office and valuables custody in a specially equipped building in the outskirts in compliance with the recommendations of international experts, international practice and Tbilisi City development aspects. The new Cash Center will control all cash and safe operations regarding any activity concerning valuables in unified closed area according to the international standards.
