National Bank of Georgia Welcomes Nikoloz Gagua as Vice-Governor

The National Bank of Georgia is pleased to announce that Nikoloz Gagua will soon join its management team in the capacity of Vice-Governor. Nikoloz Gagua will take the post of the third Vice-Governor of the National Bank from August 2, 2021, by the resolution of the Board of the National Bank of Georgia.

 

Nikoloz Gagua will lead the Securities Market Supervision function.

 

Along with Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava, Nikoloz Gagua was elected as a new member of the National Bank Board by Parliament last week. The President of Georgia had submitted the candidates for the vacant positions of the Board members to the Parliament.

 

Nikoloz Gagua has held the post of Deputy Minister of Finance in recent years.

 

The Board of the National Bank has nine members, according to the Organic Law on the National Bank of Georgia. The National Bank Board, in addition to the Chairman, consists of three Vice-Governors and other members. The members of the Board are elected by the Parliament on the recommendation of the President of Georgia for a term of seven years. The Vice-Governors of the National Bank are appointed by the Board of the National Bank on the recommendation of the NBG Governor.
