National Bank of Georgia Delegation Strengthens Ties with Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries
As part of its official visit to China, the delegation of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) visited the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and met with its Vice President, Jiang Jiang.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and fostering international cooperation in various fields. Both parties emphasized the historical ties and deepening economic relations between Georgia and China, reinforced by the existing free trade agreement between the two nations.
Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, highlighted the strategic partnership between the two countries and underscored the need to elevate financial sector relations in line with the growing economic interactions between Georgia and China.
“Georgia and China have historically maintained strong relations. However, with the recent surge in economic cooperation—reflected in trade, investments, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges—our financial sectors must also align with this expanding partnership,” noted Turnava.
Vice President Jiang Jiang expressed readiness for further collaboration with the National Bank of Georgia to enhance mutual interests.
The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China, Paata Kalandadze, who emphasized Georgia’s strategic role as a corridor between East and West, increasing global interest in the country.
“Georgia is emerging as a key player not only in the region but beyond. The strategic relations between our countries will reach a new level following this official visit. I am confident that China will seize this opportunity to advance our mutual interests, particularly in improving the well-being of the Georgian population and ensuring stability and peace in the region,” stated Kalandadze.
With a history spanning 70 years, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is a national organization of the People’s Republic of China, dedicated to people-to-people diplomacy. It oversees and coordinates the establishment and development of relations between China and its sister cities, further strengthening international cooperation.
