Natia Turnava: There Is Strong Interest in Shares of Leading Georgian Banks on the London Stock Exchange
There is strong interest in the shares of leading Georgian banks on the London Stock Exchange, stated Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, during her participation in the Investment Forum organized by the London Stock Exchange and the Embassy of Georgia in the United Kingdom.
According to Turnava, the London Stock Exchange represents a critically important platform. In 2024, the largest inflow of foreign direct investment into Georgia came from the United Kingdom—primarily through transactions conducted via the London Stock Exchange.
“It is very important that this year, the London Stock Exchange is hosting the Investment Forum in the UK. Many investors are showing interest in Georgia’s business environment and financial sector, making this a key event for the National Bank of Georgia. We believe this will lead to even more British investors and increased British investment in Georgia,” said Turnava.
She further noted that British entrepreneurs who have already invested in Georgia and are attending the forum are sharing their firsthand experience with peers, highlighting Georgia’s investment potential and opportunities.
“It’s one thing for the government to speak about the country's advantages—such as solid macroeconomic fundamentals and an attractive investment climate—but it’s quite another when business leaders share those same advantages from their own practical experience,” Turnava emphasized.
This year’s Georgia Investment Forum in London brought together more than 180 representatives from various investment companies and groups.
