Natia Turnava Meets with MIT Professor Athanasios Orphanides

The Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, held a meeting with Athanasios Orphanides, Professor of the Practice of Global Economics and Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management and former Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus.

During the discussion, Natia Turnava elaborated on the NBG's current monetary policy strategy and highlighted recent macroeconomic trends. Professor Orphanides shared insights into best international practices for enhancing monetary policy frameworks and offered recommendations for the NBG's future actions, drawing on examples from various countries.


The meeting, which took place at the National Bank of Georgia, was attended by NBG Vice Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze, Shalva Mkhatrishvili, Head of the Macroeconomics and Statistics Department, and Giorgi Edilashvili, Head of the International Relations Department.
