Natia Turnava Meets with CEO of Astana's Financial Services Regulatory Authority

During her visit to Kazakhstan, Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, met with Nurkhat Kushimov, Chief Executive Officer of the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA).

The introductory meeting centered on the economic landscape of the region and explored both challenges and opportunities within the financial sector. Emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation, Turnava noted Georgia's active efforts to integrate its financial services with neighboring countries.

Turnava also highlighted reforms implemented by the National Bank of Georgia, stressing the strong business ties between the NBG and AFSA. Both parties expressed optimism for continued cooperation, which they believe will contribute to Georgia's economic growth.

“The National Bank of Georgia and AFSA have a long history of collaboration. In 2018, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure close cooperation, information exchange, and mutual support in fulfilling our duties, promoting the safe and sound functioning of financial institutions, and strengthening banking and capital markets. We are now actively negotiating with AFSA on several initiatives aimed at developing the financial and capital markets," said Turnava.

Also attending the meeting was Giorgi Edilashvili, Head of the NBG's International Relations Department.

Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) serves as the regulatory authority overseeing both financial and non-financial services. It supervises Centre Participants offering financial and ancillary services and capital market activities within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).
