Natia Turnava Meets with British Ambassador Mark Clayton
Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, met with Mark Clayton, Ambassador of Great Britain to Georgia.
The main topic for discussion at the meeting was macroeconomic stance of Georgia. The conversation also touched on enforcement of financial sanctions imposed by the USA, Great Britain and the European Union as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Natia Turnava noted that the actions taken by the National Bank of Georgia are in full compliance with international sanctions. Also, the importance of close cooperation between the NBG and the Bank of England was emphasized. The partners discussed the projects implemented with the support of the British Embassy, noting that the close cooperation will continue in the future.
"Great Britain is an important strategic partner of Georgia. We discussed joint projects at today's meeting. We have been cooperating with the Bank of England since 2008. They have extensive experience in inflation targeting and knowledge sharing. It should be noted that the Bank of England provided considerable support to the National Bank of Georgia in launching the inflation targeting regime. I hope that the close cooperation will continue in the future," Natia Turnava said.
