Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, within the framework of the international SIBOS conference organized by SWIFT, visited the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. During her visit, she met with Sebastian Hofmann-Werther, a senior executive of 360T, a leading global provider of electronic foreign exchange (FX) and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives trading, and a member of Deutsche Börse Group.

At the meeting, the NBG Governor highlighted the Bank’s objective to further develop a medium-sized FX trading market in Georgia. She underlined that such progress would help reduce bid-ask spreads and increase market turnover. She also emphasized the need for enhanced regulatory supervision to ensure orderly market functioning and to prevent manipulative practices by major market participants.

“We hope that the 360T team will support participants of the Georgian FX market in strengthening their technological capabilities in electronic trading, thereby creating potential for the market’s expansion into more sophisticated products such as FX forwards and derivatives. For us, the most important milestone in establishing a long-term partnership with your company is the successful launch of the platform. We believe that cooperation with 360T will be fruitful and will encompass not only technological support but also other facilitative mechanisms, such as close engagement with participant institutions during both the implementation stage and in addressing future challenges,” - noted Natia Turnava.

For their part, representatives of 360T expressed readiness to deepen cooperation and engagement with the National Bank of Georgia and Georgian financial institutions.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of around 10 commercial banks from Georgia who are participating in the SIBOS conference.

It is noteworthy that NBG Governor Natia Turnava will deliver a keynote address at SIBOS, the largest international conference organized by SWIFT. This marks the first time in the history of the National Bank of Georgia that its Governor will take the stage as a keynote speaker at the event.
