Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, met with Francis Malige, Managing Director, Head of Financial Institutions Group at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and members of the Board of Directors. The meeting was also attended by Alkis Vryenios Drakinos - Director, Regional Head of the Caucasus for EBRD.

The parties discussed the long-term cooperation of the National Bank of Georgia and commercial banks with the EBRD, current and future projects, and the results accomplished. The leading role of the EBRD in the development of the financial sector of Georgia was particularly emphasized.

As Natia Turnava noted at the meeting, the National Bank of Georgia appreciates and welcomes the EBRD's initiatives for the development of the financial sector of Georgia.

 

"The National Bank of Georgia has been closely and dynamically cooperating with the EBRD for years. I would like to highlight the successful cooperation with the EBRD Treasury: as part of the project that the NBG and EBRD did together, we were able to share our experience with the countries where the EBRD works. I am glad that Georgia and the NBG presented themselves quite well in these countries," Natia Turnava noted.

On his part, Managing Director, Head of Financial Institutions Group of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), expressed readiness that the Bank will continue to support important reforms in the financial sector and provide technical assistance.
