Natia Turnava Meets Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Sanjay Malhotra, in Washington

Within the framework of her visit to Washington, the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, and First Vice Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze met with the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Sanjay Malhotra, during the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings.

The discussion focused on economic cooperation between Georgia and India. Natia Turnava briefed the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on Georgia’s macroeconomic trends and issues related to financial stability, presenting the NBG’s current monetary and supervisory policy practices.

The heads of the two central banks also discussed prospects for future cooperation. During the meeting, it was agreed that the National Bank of Georgia and the Reserve Bank of India will sign a Memorandum of Understanding, covering collaboration across several areas of central banking including monetary policy, payment systems, financial sector supervision, and the regulatory framework.

Prior to the bilateral meeting, Natia Turnava and Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava participated in a high-level dialogue organized by the Reserve Bank of India, which focused on enhancing economic resilience through digital public platforms.
