
Natia Turnava and Lasha Khutsishvili Meet with IMF Executive Director Jeroen Clicq and Alternate Executive Director Marnix van Rij
On April 17, 2026, within the framework of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings in the United States, Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), and Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia, together with the Georgian delegation, held a meeting with IMF Executive Director Jeroen Clicq and Alternate Executive Director Marnix van Rij.
During the meeting, the parties discussed Georgia’s current economic outlook and the strong performance of the financial sector. Particular emphasis was placed on the NBG’s consistent monetary policy, as well as the resilience of the financial system.
The discussion also covered global challenges, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, noting that its duration may have implications for macroeconomic forecasts.
For his part, the IMF Executive Director highlighted that Georgia continues to maintain sound macroeconomic indicators and strong buffers.
The meeting was also attended by NBG Vice Governors Ekaterine Mikabadze, Ekaterine Galdava, and Nino Jeladze, as well as Deputy Ministers of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze and Giorgi Kakauridze.
