
Natia Turnava and Lasha Khutsishvili Meet with IMF Executive Director Jeroen Clicq
In Washington, within the framework of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, and the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, met with IMF Executive Director Jeroen Clicq.
The parties discussed the current state of Georgia’s economy, as well as global challenges and associated risks.
It was noted that despite ongoing geopolitical difficulties, Georgia’s economy has demonstrated resilience to global shocks, supported by a stable macroeconomic environment and strong fundamental factors.
Emphasis was placed on the NBG’s consistent monetary policy, price stability, and the sound indicators of the financial sector — key contributors to the resilience of Georgia’s economy.
The meeting also addressed recent trends in economic growth. It was underlined that this growth has been achieved while maintaining price stability, reflecting the effectiveness of the NBG’s consistent monetary policy.
The parties discussed prospects for continued cooperation and the forthcoming IMF assessment missions to Georgia.
The meeting with the IMF Executive Director was attended by NBG Vice Governors Ekaterine Mikabadze and Ekaterine Galdava, Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze, and Head of the NBG’s Macroeconomics and Statistics Department Tamta Sopromadze.
