Money Transfers in July
In July 2009 the volume of money transfers from abroad constituted 79.4 million USD, which is 7.5 million USD or 10.4 percent more than the same amount for previous month and 18.0 million USD or 18.5 percent less than the same figure for July 2008. The decrease of overall volume of remittances for a year is mainly due to their decrease from Russia by 20.2 million USD or 31.8 percent. The volume of remittances also decreased for Armenia (1.8 million USD or 61.1 percent decrease), UK (0.3 million USD or 32.3 percent decrease), as well as for some other countries.
91.6 percent of total money transfers from abroad fall on those nine big donor countries, from which the volume of such transfers exceeded 1 million USD in July. It is noteworthy that in July of the past year the share of these 9 countries constituted 89.0 percent of the total volume of money transfers.

In July 2009 7.1 million USD were transferred from Georgia, while in July 2008 this figure amounted to 9.2 million USD. The volume of money transfers from Georgia decreased for Russia (by 0.8 million USD or 22.2 percent), as well as for Ukraine (by 0.5 million USD or 28.0 percent).
