In July 2011, the volume of money transfers from abroad constituted 99.4 million USD, or 165.6 million GEL, which is 18.4 million USD (or 16.3 million GEL), or 22.7 percent more than the same amount for July 2010. During this period, the volume of remittances grew from Russia (by 10.5 million USD, or 8.9 million GEL), Greece (by 2.7 million USD, or 3.8 million GEL), Italy (by 2.5 million USD, or 3.5 million GEL), India (by 1.2 million USD, or 1.9 million GEL), as well as for several other countries.


91.3 percent of total money transfers from abroad fall on those 10 big donor countries, from which the volume of such transfers exceeded 1 million USD in July. In July 2010 the share of these 10 countries constituted 91.6 percent of the total volume of money transfers.

In July 2011, 6.8 million USD (or 11.3 million GEL) were transferred from Georgia instead of 6.3 million USD (or 11.6 million GEL) in July 2010.
