24 March, 2022

Financial education is one of the priority areas for the National Bank of Georgia. To support this objective, the NBG has initiated and organized a number of important projects and undertakings. Also, since 2014, at the initiative of the NBG, Georgia has been celebrating Global Money Week with more than 170 countries around the world.

Within the framework of the Week, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Bank of Georgia and Caucasus International University. The document aims to increase access to financial education and raise awareness among the younger generation. To honor the memorandum, Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, gave a lecture at the University. Governor’s lecture covered the importance of financial education and explained what the country’s central financial institution is doing in this area.

"Looking at the consequences of the war and the pandemic, the financial loss is noticeable in addition to the human loss, which is invaluable. Part of the society loses their jobs, terminate business activities, and that affects the income of individuals and households and, consequently, their quality of life. If we talk about how financial education can cope with this result, we can clearly say that if we manage finances properly, distribute income accurately, and make savings, we create the so-called safety cushion, and make diversified investments, we will go through shock periods much more calmly and it will not radically affect our standard of living", said Koba Gvenetadze.

"Caucasus International University supports the strengthening of the financial literacy policy implemented by the National Bank of Georgia. Hence, it is an honor to sign a memorandum of understanding the NBG. I want to express my gratitude for this opportunity", - stated the Giorgi Abashishvili, the Dean of the Faculty of Business of the Caucasus International University.
