By the initiative of the National Bank of Georgia a meeting between the National Bank authorities and economic experts was held in Tbilisi Marriott today.

President of the National Bank, Giorgi Kadagidze spoke about the recent micro-economic trends and the state of art in banking sector.

“We have stated a number of times that the strength of the National Bank is its transparency, consistency and stability. Today we are meeting the people, who have a very clear understanding of the current economic processes, the independent experts that are opinion makers in this field and therefore, our goal is to introduce to them the projects being implemented by the National Bank.”

The president of the National Bank spoke about the reforms and the planned actions in organizational as well as monetary policy and monitoring. Giorgi Kadagidze indicated that the meetings in the framework will be held again in the future, “I think the meeting is really important and we initiated to make them regular”- said giorgi Kadagidze.

According to Lado Papava, an economic expert, the major objective of a meeting of this kind is the exchange of opinions between the authorities of the National Bank and the experts. ,, We are glad about the openness of the National bank, because it should be a completely non-political organization, be open and give information. So this kind of meetings is really welcome. The National Bank authorities also said that in spite of the difference in opinions on a number of issues the exchange of information between the parties is important. The absence of information gives rise to rumors that badly effect the banking sector as well as each citizen” Lado Papava stated.
