The National Bank of Georgia participated in an international conference on consumer finance and financial education, which aimed to share experiences and best practices between participating countries.

For the third time this year, the event was organized by the International Network on Financial Education of the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD/INFE), as part of the 5-year technical support project of OECD/INFE and the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The conference was attended by representatives of 7 Southeast European countries - Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Croatia and Georgia, along with invited specialists and experts from different countries.

The participants of the two-day online conference talked about the ways in which consumers access and use digital financial products.

The first day of the event was dedicated to discussing the trends of digitizing financial products, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in South-Eastern Europe in this regard. The speakers used the examples of their respective countries to show how they managed to adapt financial education programs and protect consumer rights in response to new challenges. On the second day of the meeting, the participants focused on the importance of providing financial education through digital channels and discussed the opportunities and challenges in this area.

Representatives of the National Bank of Georgia were eager to share their experience with other participants in providing financial education, protecting consumer rights and raising cyber security awareness through the online portal Finedu in Georgia.
