Innovations Camp on Financial Education for Entrepreneurs
The National Bank of Georgia and Junior Achievement Georgia hosted an Innovations Camp at the International Black Sea University with the goal to enhance financial education.
The event was held within the framework of the USAID’s Supporting Entrepreneurial Education in Europe and Eurasia Project and was co-financed by 5 commercial banks - Basisbank, TBC Bank, Credo Bank, Bank of Georgia, and Terrabank, together with MBC Microfinance Institution. The Georgian Bankers’ Association was involved in the project as well.
The Innovations Camp is in its fifth year, dedicated to challenges of financial education and the search for ways to solve them. The event was attended by over a hundred young people aged 15-18. The participants were consulted by guest experts of banking and finance. The representative of the National Bank of Georgia were pleased to make a presentation for the audience about the need and importance of financial education.
The participants were tasked to come up with an innovative product, service or project for entrepreneurs that would help raise the level of financial education of micro and small entrepreneurs, properly plan business finance and use a variety of financial products. By the decision of the Jury, the team with the project titled enhance was announced a winner.
The winners and participants of the event were awarded symbolic gifts and internationally recognized certificates.
"We are happy to have held, in partnership with Junior Achievement, this year’s round of our Innovations Camp, a practical and fun way to get the young generation interested in financial education. This exercise is meant for young people to gain teamwork skills, develop ideas and solve challenges. The knowledge and experience gained on financial education will help them make responsible financial decisions in the future," said Lasha Gzirishvili, Head of the NBG’s Consumer Protection and Financial Education Department.
