
Governor Gvenetadze to Participate in International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings
Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, will take part in the 2022 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) that will take place from Monday, April 18, through Sunday, April 24.
Annual high-level spring meetings will be held in hybrid format this year, two years after the onset of the pandemic. The work visit of Governor Gvenetadze will include the meeting with Mr. Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director at the IMF, Mr. Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, Mr. James John, the Head of the IMF Mission, Mr. Paul Hilbers, Executive Director of the IMF Netherlands Constituency, and representatives of the Federal Reserve Bank and the U.S Department of Treasury. In addition, a meeting of the Georgian delegation with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is scheduled.
Governor of the National Bank of Georgia will participate in the Investors' Conference organized by Bank of America. Later, Koba Gvenetadze will hold working meetings with the heads of the IMF Monetary and Capital Markets Department.
The Spring Meetings are attended by the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Managers and Alternate Managers, along with representatives of the financial sectors of almost all countries of the world. Participants discuss issues of global importance, including global economic prospects, poverty reduction, economic development and aid efficiency, as well as cybersecurity and financial technology.
