At the meeting held at the “Tbilisi-Marriott” hotel, the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia introduced current developments in the banking sector and macroeconomic trends to the members of the business association. The meeting was mostly dedicated to the balance of payments, monetary policy and current account deficit financing sources.

“The main purpose of the meeting is to provide the business sector with the adequate information on the current processes, and ensure that their expectations reflect reality, since expectations largely influence their decisions” said Giorgi Kadagidze.

Zurab Lalazashvili – the Chairman of the Tax - Customs Committee of The Business Association welcomed the regular meetings between the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia and the representatives of the private sector. He stated: “Today the Governor of the National Bank provided us with the information on the current developments on the foreign exchange market, including information on the Lari exchange rate dynamics and on the initiatives of the National Bank of Georgia.

From our side, we were interested in the exchange rates developments as well as the possible introduction of the regulations for the various banking institutions. It is important for the businessmen to know what to expect in the nearest future, since there are many importers, which depend on the foreign currency, also many of them have certain liabilities, so it is really necessary to know what to expect. Hence, the information and analysis provided by the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia are extremely important, since they to some extent calm businessmen and help them to make right decisions”
