Giorgi Glonti, Vice-president of the National Bank to Participate in the Annual Meeting of EBRD

Giorgi Glonti, vice-president of the National Bank of Georgia will participate in the annual meeting and business forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to be hosted by Belgrade on May 22-23 (Serbia and Montenegro). On the fourteenth annual meeting of EBRD Georgia will also be represented by the ministers of economic development and energy and deputy minister of finance. Both events will be held in Sava Center of Belgrade, which will host around two thousand participants, among which will be the governmental delegations of different countries and leaders of the top financial companies. The meeting, aimed at widening the cooperation between the participating countries, will encompass the issues of opening of borders, expansion of markets and activating of investments, vice-president Glonti said. The focus of the meeting is the south-east Europe and key issues of EBRD operations in the region. EBRD is one of the largest financial institutions, which actively and fruitfully cooperates with Georgia. As of March 31, 2005, EBRD is implementing 36 projects in Georgia, with the total value of EUR 256.8 million. Of this, the value of the current credit portfolio is EUR 154.9 million. EBRD has credit lines for a Georgian commercial bank and owns the stocks of some of them. Besides, it finances fuel and energy, as well as transport and agro-business spheres.
