The international conference Global Social and Financial Skills, organized by Aflatoun International and held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, brought together more than 300 participants from 80 countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities of financial education for children.

Representatives of central banks, educational institutions and non-governmental organizations shared at the panel discussion their experience of teaching financial education to school children. Social and financial empowerment of children, a poster competition dedicated to financial education was held, in which the poster of the financial education platform of the NBG was announced a winner.

At the panel discussion of central banks, Ketevan Akhalkatsi, Head of the Financial Education and Strategic Development Department of the National Bank of Georgia, spoke about the bank's experience, projects implemented and future plans.

"Financial education is one of the priorities of the NBG. It was through the initiative and efforts of the NBG, and with the close involvement of the Ministry of Education, that Georgia took a very big step adding financial education component to the national curriculum. Financial education has been taught as a core class at general education schools since 2018. The intensive work continues. The success depends on maximum engagement of all parties, including the private sector and non-formal education providers, in children's education projects. We are happy to have received the award, and thank you to the participants of the forum for their trust. We will continue to work on new financial education projects in the future," Ketevan Akhalkatsi noted in her speech.
