Financial and Economic Education for a Better Future – Series of Bank Public Lectures by NBG

Professional staff of the National Bank of Georgia held public lectures in Tbilisi universities and discussed current economic topics with students within the framework of the Financial and economic education for a better future project.


Issues discussed with students included: financial stability and tools of the NBG, how money supply is created in the real world, global economic prospects, sustainable finance, financial technologies, consumer rights and others.


Archil Mestvirishvili, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, held one such meeting at ISET, the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University.


"Within the framework of the project, we talked to over 500 students of 6 Tbilisi universities about the functions of the NBG, the macroeconomic situation of the country, financial stability and the challenges in the region. I would like to convey my gratitude to the universities for their cooperation, and to the young people for their high interest and involvement. The NBG will continue to initiate and support interesting educational projects in the future", said Archil Mestvirishvili, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.


Financial and economic education is one of the main concerns of the National Bank of Georgia. A number of educational activities have been successfully implemented in this regard in recent years, including laying the foundation for different annual events.


Finedu, the NBG’s financial education portal set up in 2020 is important in this regard. It functions to raise young people’s financial awareness and their interest in the economic matters, which gives them the opportunity to learn to manage their finance independently from an early age and promotes the development of economic mindset.
