Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has allocated the tranche for Georgia

The Executive Board of International Monetary Fund reviewed the progress of the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF) program for Georgia and made a decision to allocate USD 20 million tranche under this program. The positive decision was based on the observance of all parameters by the Government of Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia under the program.
“While taking a decision, the International Monetary Fund took into consideration not only fulfillment of the parameters under the memorandum by the Government and the National Bank of Georgia, but also an economic – financial policy of the year 2007 that will significantly improve the economic situation in the country. ”stated Roman Gotsiridze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia. The sum allocated by IMF will be transferred to the National Bank of Georgia account in the nearest future.
Georgia will receive the next tranche under PRFG program. The IMF approved the financial program under PRGF arrangement in the amount USD 141.2 million on June 4, 2004. Georgia has already received about USD 80 million under this program.
