The encyclopedic issue of the album “Money in Georgia” enjoyed a great esteem at the museum of the International Monetary Fund. I’m very delighted with the magnificent book “Money in Georgia”. This book provides the best possibility of getting acquainted with the rich and ancient history of Georgia – it is said in the letter of Ms. Kathleen White, the Chief of Public Affairs of the External Relations Department of the International Monetary Fund.
The book “Money in Georgia” was sent to the Visitors’ Center of the International Monetary Fund recently. Here the IMF guests have a possibility to get familiar with IMF activities and its role in the global economy. The Visitors’ Center represents the Money Museum of the International Monetary Fund at the same time. The Center accommodates the exhibition hall, where the stands tell the visitors about the history of cash circulation in the world.
The edition “Money in Georgia” depicts the twenty-five-centuries - old history of cash circulation in Georgia. The above-mentioned book depicts not only the national heritage of Georgian monetary units, but also provides the interested individuals with complete information about the world achievements in the spheres of numismatics and bonistics. All known types of coins ever circulating in the territory of Georgia are given in the book. Money is one of the most important attributes of a state and it reflects not only the level of economy, but also the country’s political and foreign policy orientation. Thus, from the certain point of view the history of money is the history of a nation too.
