Ekaterine Mikabadze Attends the Annual Conference of the European Covered Bond Council
Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, participated in the annual conference organized by the European Covered Bond Council (ECBC).
The event, which was co-organized by ECBC and Euromoney Conferences, took place on May 16-18 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Investors, analysts, representatives of commercial banks, rating agencies, and supervisory bodies from various countries around the world attended the conference.
During a panel discussion, the Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia shared the experience of the National Bank of Georgia in introducing covered bonds with the conference participants.
In her review, Ekaterine Mikabadze emphasized the importance of covered bonds as a source of long-term and affordable financing for commercial banks. She noted that the introduction of this tool would also contribute to the development of the capital market in Georgia and the optimization of the Central Bank's monetary operations.
David Abesadze, the Head of the Securities Market Supervision Department of the National Bank of Georgia, and Teimuraz Khatiashvili, the Head of the Corporate Finance Division of the same department, also attended the conference.
