Delegation of the National Bank of Georgia took part in the Conference held in Copenhagen (Denmark)

The delegation of the National Bank of Georgia headed by Giorgi Glonti, the Vice-president of the National Bank of Georgia took part in the conference held in Copenhagen (Denmark) on 4-5 September. The forum was held under the aegis of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Communication). 140 member country chairmen attended this assembly.
The Conference participants reviewed the changes in worldwide businesses development in the recent years. The participants listened to the Chairman of SWIFT Directors’ Council Mr. Yap Cump and the Executive director Leonardo Shrank’s speeches. The recent years results were evaluated on the forum. It was noted that in 2004 the level of SWIFT usage was increased and service prices were lowered.
According to Giorgi Glonti, the Vice-president of the National Bank of Georgia, the meeting of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) authorities was held within the forum where the issues of current importance for the region were discussed and among them, preparation to move to new SWIFT systems.
The International system SWIFT is included in 7500 financial institutes of the 200 countries all over the world. The National Bank of Georgia became a member of the system from the year 1996. Now SWIFT service is used by 19 commercial banks of Georgia who carry out transfer procedures individually.
