David Abesadze, Head of the Securities Market Supervision Department at the National Bank of Georgia, attended an event celebrating TBC Leasing's successful raising of €10 million in credit resources from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP).

This marks CDP’s first investment in Georgia, setting a significant precedent in the country’s financial sector by attracting new international institutional capital.

In his remarks, David Abesadze highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the private and public sectors and the involvement of international financial institutions in the development of the capital market.

"The development of a robust and well-functioning capital market requires joint efforts from both private and public sector stakeholders. The role of international financial institutions and development agencies is crucial in this regard, as demonstrated by today’s transaction," Abesadze noted.

He further emphasized that the National Bank of Georgia is prepared to support similar initiatives within its mandate.

Abesadze also underscored the importance of the Capital Market Support Program, through which TBC Leasing was awarded in 2023. Under this program, TBC Leasing was financed for the issuance of GEL 15 million in green bonds. Notably, the Capital Market Support Program, co-initiated by the National Bank of Georgia, was implemented with financial backing from the European Union.

"Last year was a record year for the growth of the local capital market, with Georgian companies issuing over GEL 1.1 billion in domestic bonds. After winning the Capital Market Support Program, TBC Leasing successfully placed GEL 15 million in green bonds," Abesadze added.

The signing ceremony was attended by Massimiliano D'Antuono, Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, and Ambassador Pawel Herczynski, Head of the European Union Delegation to Georgia.
