Current Tendencies of Bank Deposits
Total volume of the non-bank deposits in the country's banking sector increased by 2.7 percent or 202.1 million GEL compared with the December 1, 2012, and exceeded 7.6 billion GEL by January 1, 2013. In December, 2012, compared to the previous month, the volume of demand deposits increased by 100.9 million GEL (3.2 percent) and term deposits increased by 101.1 million GEL (2.4 percent).
The dollarization ratio of the total non-bank deposits constituted 64.08 percent by January 1, 2013. It decreased by 1.78 percentage points compared to December 1, 2012.
The annual average weighted interest rate on term deposits constituted 8.5 percent. In particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 9.4 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 8.3 percent.
The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 80.2 percent and the share of Euro equals to 17.1 percent.
