Total volume of deposits in the country’s banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) increased by 15.8 percent or 605.8 million GEL compared to the previous month and exceeded 4.4 billion GEL by August 1, 2010. In July, compared to the previous month, the volume of transferable deposits and term deposits of non-financial and households sectors increased by 499.1 million GEL or 36.3 percent and 103.4 million GEL or 4.3 percent, respectively.

In July the annual average weighted interest rate for all deposits amounted to 7.7 percent, in particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 9.2 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits - 7.4 percent.

The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 81.3 percent and the share of Euro equals to 17.7 percent.
