Current Condition of Commercial Banks’ Assets
As of August 1, 2010, the banking sector in Georgia is represented by 19 commercial banks, including 14 foreign-controlled banks and 2 branches of non-resident banks. Compared to the previous month total assets of Georgian commercial banks (in current prices) increased by 577.6 million GEL (by 6.3 percent) and constituted 9792.3 million GEL. The banking sector’s own funds (equity capital) equal to 1636.6 million GEL, which makes up 16.7 percent of commercial banks’ total assets.
The share of foreign capital in banks’ total paid-in capital equals to 79.6 percent.
The banking sector finished July 2010 with profit, like the previous month. The net profit in July constituted 22.3 million GEL and the net profit year-to-date constituted 59.6 million GEL.
The share of five banks having the largest assets within the total amount of the banking sector assets increased by 1.0 percent compared to the previous month and constituted 79.6 percent.
