As of the end of August 2023, the banking sector in Georgia is represented by 15 commercial banks, including 13 - foreign-controlled banks. In August 2023 the total assets of Georgian commercial banks constituted 72.1 billion GEL.

The banking sector's equity capital equals 11.2 billion GEL, which makes up 15.5 percent of the commercial banks total assets.
