Non-bank deposits (current accounts and term deposits) in the country’s banking sector constituted 2.5 billion GEL by May 1, 2009, which is 18.6 percent less than the comparable figure for the same period of 2008.


The dollarization ratio of deposits amounted to 73.2 percent by May 1, 2009. The average weighted interest rate for all deposits equals to 9.7 percent, in particular the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits is 10.7 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits is 9.5 percent.


The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 78.4 percent and the share of Euro equals to 21.2 percent
