Changes in Monetary and Financial Statistics
One of the main priorities of NBG’s activity is providing of quality statistics to the users. The existing international statistical practice in this filed, as well as in other areas of statistics, is being in continual process of improvement. Hence, during the 2012 NBG plans a number of innovations to enhancement of quality standards in Statistics, which would be announced on the website in advance.
Starting from February 2012 revised Monetary Survey data will be posted on the NBG’s website. The reason of the changes is the recommendation of the IMF’s ROSC (Report on Observance Standards and Codes) missions about including into the definition of Broad Money liabilities, such as debit card deposits, check book deposits, credit guarantee deposits, deposits for letters of credit, and deposits for other payment documents.
Among enlargement of the financial system of the country increases the role of the non-bank financial institutions. So, Statistics need to detail classifications of the financial instruments by the sectors of economy and show other financial institutions sub-sector separately.
The revised Monetary Survey data will be available on the NBG’s web-site from February 29, 2012.
