Salome Tvalodze, the head of the Macro-Financial Modeling and Analysis Division of the National Bank of Georgia, participated in the event organized by the World Bank Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSAC). The conference was held on May 17-18 in Vienna, where participants discussed supervisory challenges and green transition in a post-pandemic environment.


FinSAC continuously cooperates with partner countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and provides them with tailored expertise and technical advice on financial stability, micro-prudential supervision and banking resolution.


Representative of the National Bank of Georgia discussed the current and planned activities of the NBG and stressed the importance of developing a green, social and sustainable finance framework with the participants.


"The National Bank started developing a sustainable finance framework in 2017, and in 2019 published the Sustainable Finance Roadmap and has been actively working to implement the action plan presented in the Roadmap", - stated Salome Tvalodze. She also spoke about the taxonomy project and highlighted future activities in this direction: "The Sustainable Finance taxonomy has been developed by the NBG with the involvement of several local and international experts and is an important precondition for the successful implementation of the action plan." During the discussion session, the importance of disclosure and transparency and the successful experience of the NBG in this regard were also stressed.
